Writing Desk 0.50 -

Version 0.50 is out now, it's been a while! After the last release I got some very valuable feedback that I needed to percolate and play with for a while. After all that percolated, I threw out a lot of how the Hero, Setting, Quest etc. were being defined. Instead of the very rigid set of traits, I've been playing instead with some mad libs style plaintext descriptions. Single line prompts intended to evoke an idea that the player can expand upon.

For example, you might get this generated as a suggestion for a Quest:
"Do not lie, and obtain the friendly dog"

Which might inspire you to write about what restricts the Hero from lieing, why the dog must be obtained and why they're so friendly.

Garfield is bound by an oath to his god Yon to never to speak falsehoods or mislead others, lest his divine powers be taken from him. Yon also demands that he seek out the amicable canine god Odious E. Odi is a lonely, friendly god. Though some would say he's dangerously friendly, as his power is barely controlled. Nevertheless, this power can save Yon from the crippling illness that weakens him by the day.

There's still tons more to do with expanding this system and quality control. There's a lot of tweaking and rewriting needed before the data this is pulling from sits right. I can explain it more in a future update, once I've nailed it done a bit more solidly. For now, go enjoy your expanded freedom!
